How to Delete Your Chat, Search, and Download History
Telegram doesn’t keep just one kind of history — chats, search queries, downloaded media, GIFs, calls, and Telegram Stars purchases are all tracked separately, and deleting one doesn’t touch the others. Some of these can be wiped completely and permanently; a few, like your Stars transaction log, are designed so you can’t delete them at all. This guide walks through every type of history Telegram stores, exactly how to clear each one on Android, iPhone, and Desktop, and which ones are simply not erasable by design.
How to Delete Telegram Chat History
Short answer: Open the chat, tap the contact or group name, then use Clear History to wipe the messages while keeping the chat, or Delete Chat to remove the whole conversation from your chat list.
There are a few distinct actions worth telling apart before you start:
Delete a conversation: removes the entire chat from your chat list, including all its messages.
Clear chat history: empties the messages but keeps the chat itself in your list, ready for new messages.
Delete selected messages: removes specific messages you choose, without touching the rest of the conversation.
Delete entire chat: the same as deleting a conversation — the chat and everything in it disappears from your list.
Android
Open the chat you want to clear or delete.

How to Delete Telegram Chat History for Both Sides
Short answer: Yes — in one-to-one private chats, either person can delete messages (or the entire chat history) for both sides, with no time limit. In groups, only admins can delete-for-everyone; regular members can only remove messages from their own view.
When Telegram allows it: in private chats, deleting a message or clearing history shows an option like “Also delete for [contact name].” Selecting it removes the content from both devices.
Time limitations: none for private chats — you can delete messages sent years ago for both sides, not just recent ones.

Short answer: What you can delete depends entirely on your role — subscribers can’t delete anything from a channel, admins can delete individual posts, and only the channel owner can wipe the channel’s full history or the channel itself.
Subscriber: has no deletion rights over channel content. They can only remove the channel from their own chat list, which doesn’t affect it for anyone else.
Admin: can delete individual posts they have permission to manage, and — depending on rights assigned by the owner — may clear broader chunks of channel history.
Channel owner: has full control, including deleting any post, clearing the entire channel history, or deleting the channel outright.

How to Delete Telegram GIF History
Short answer: Long-press any GIF in your Saved GIFs tab and choose Delete — this removes it from your recent/saved list without affecting the chats you sent it in.

Telegram keeps a short-term memory of recently used stickers and emoji, separate from the packs you’ve formally added:
Recent stickers: shown at the top of the sticker panel based on recent sends. Long-press one and choose Remove from Recent (where offered) to clear that single entry.
Emoji reactions: there’s no browsable “history” of reactions you’ve placed — reactions live on the message itself, not in a separate log you can clear.
Recent emoji list: the suggested emoji at the top of the emoji keyboard updates automatically based on usage; there’s no manual “clear recent emoji” button in every app version, so it simply shifts over time.
If a specific sticker pack is cluttering things up, remove it entirely through Settings → Stickers instead of trying to clear its “history.”
How to Delete Telegram Call History
Short answer: Open the Calls list, swipe left (or long-press) on an entry to delete it individually, or use the clear-all option to wipe every call at once.
Call log: Telegram keeps a record of voice and video calls, similar to a phone’s call log, viewable from the Calls section.
Individual call deletion: swipe left on a specific entry (mobile) or right-click it (Desktop) and choose Delete.

Purchase history: every time you buy, spend, or receive Stars, it’s logged as a transaction with a timestamp, amount, and source.

Whether deletion is supported: it isn’t.
